It is not because we drill a borehole that a well is installed…..

Sometimes the water found maybe of poor quality, for example it may be very brackish, or in some cases the bore may even prove to be dry. In such cases we may have to drill more than one borehole in different locations of a village. The cost of well drilling varies from country to country across Africa; in Burkina Faso it costs roughly $8,000 (€6,500). This cost included preliminary survey work, geophysical analyses and reports, the drilling, the concrete slab and the well pump.

However, that can only be the beginning… unfortunately there are too many water-wells like this one across Africa that have been drilled and 1-2 years later they break down and no one is there to repair them. That is why we have designed an entire SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT project around the well. To know more, don’t hesitate to spend some time on the site to read more!
