After having kept you all up to date about “our” village, Bouassa, in Burkina Faso, it seems important to tell you where we are at. Well, to be honest with you, we are waiting! Indeed, all of the funding applications are in the hands of the various foundations that we submitted them to. Applications we submitted late last year and for the most part, decisions will be made in April and even in May … its long I’d rather say.. For us, but especially for our friends in Bouassa who are impatiently waiting for us to start the work.
One of the foundations has informed us that our application has not been retained. During a telephone conversation with the head of the department carrying out the selection process, they told us our application was rejected because it was not in the right format. This person was quite annoyed because she noticed our application was excellent.. And in fact, we never received the right documents with the right format to fill out! Infuriating…
In a few days, we leave for Burkina Faso and will go regularly to the village. This time we hope to be able to meet the village chief. When we were there the last time he was at a funeral, so we couldn’t meet with him. We’ll take more photos and we will try to meet a few more children like the ones we have already spoken with.
