I have to admit, we are getting rather anxious! On May 4th the Municipal Council of the City of Paris will decide if they will finance the Water-Tower and Latrine project in Bouassa! Gearing up to their decision, the City of Paris has been in constant contact with us to add things to our application and to slightly change the overall presentation of our application. We take that as a good sign, if they weren’t interested they probably wouldn’t be so eager for us to make these changes….
Last Friday, however… (…Drum roll….) Etienne received a phone call from the General Council of the Drôme (a local government office) announcing that they had decided to continue the adventure with us and finance € 4,500 of the project, just like they did in the Phase 1! Excellent news!!
Another foundation made their decision this week and we are now we are waiting for their response. Those who defended our project were very convinced of the validity of our approach and hoped with all my heart that we would receive financing again. This foundation had partially funded the water drilling last year.
In short, we are holding on to the dream that by the end of this year the Water-Tower will be built, Latrines will be set up, we would have had had our first seminar on health awareness and training (scheduled for September) and some neighborhood women would have been able to plant and see their first vegetables harvested for their families and for sale on the local market…
Because we still believe…
