It took time, a lot of time… as things do we when you work with the administrations. Finally, Séraphin was able to cash the check from the Belgian foundation which is financing the pigsty project. Then we had to look for a plot of land. Again, it was not easy! Most landowners, if they are ready to sell, think about subdivisions…which are more profitable for them. Finally, a plot of 1,271 m² or 13,680 ft² was found, not far from the parish but far enough away that the smells of the pigsty will not bother the neighbors! What’s even better is the sale of this land led to the reconciliation of the family that owned the land. A long-standing conflict was the reason why this space was still free! And it was because of the sale they were able to put their difference behind them…

Immediately, a small team set to work to set the property lines, take measurements, pull cords and even begin to make bricks. When people pass by the property, they wonder how they were able to acquire the plot and are even more surprised that jobs will be created by the creation of the pigsty. The people are overjoyed. The neighborhood is on the move!

While we are also delighted with this progress, at the same time we learned that the 2nd foundation of a major company that had committed to the project was retracting its promise of funding … This time they were able clearly tell us why. The project manager, an employee of this company, was transferred out of the country and there weren’t any contact points in Burkina Faso to follow up with the project. It’s very upsetting, but we do not give up. There is still so much to do. We will continue to send applications, register on crowdfunding sites, fight for Bouassa which has become our village … And then, perhaps you would consider giving again so that the Bouassa project could continue?

…and we continue to believe:
